Open structures for non-standard cargo
A Flat Rack container has end walls, while a Platform model consists only of a reinforced floor. Both systems provide overhead and side access, allowing materials that do not fit inside a standard container to be transported.
Weight distribution matters as much as total weight
Even when total weight is within capacity, loading through small contact points can create excessive stress in the floor. The footprint, centre of gravity and support blocks should be determined through engineering calculations.
Securing plan
The capacity of chains, straps and tensioning equipment is selected according to the cargo's possible directions of movement. The angle and number of lashing points, and the connection areas on the equipment, should be verified on drawings before shipment.
Information required for a quotation
Overall dimensions, net weight, centre of gravity, lifting points, route, transport mode and target delivery date are the key inputs for a project quotation. Including photographs and technical drawings reduces the risk of selecting the wrong equipment.
