A 20 ft Dry container has an external length of 6,058 mm, width of 2,438 mm and height of 2,591 mm. Internal dimensions are approximately 5,898 × 2,350 × 2,390 mm, with a volume of about 33.2 m³. Minor tolerances may occur depending on the manufacturer and equipment specification.
How should payload capacity be interpreted?
Capacity assessment considers not only the maximum cargo, but also tare weight, gross weight and point loads on the floor. Even when a heavy machine is within the weight limit, concentrated loads on small feet may require additional floor reinforcement.
Which materials is it suitable for?
Packaged industrial goods, automotive parts, textiles, dry food, spare parts and palletised materials are commonly transported in 20 ft containers. For dense materials, the shorter shell can make weight distribution easier to manage.
Storage and conversion applications
A 20 ft shell is also suitable for site storage, a workshop, technical room or compact sales point. Ventilation, condensation control, electrical systems and fire safety must, however, be designed for the intended use.
